Health Benefits of Olives

Sometimes it is quite funny as to how the title of the post keeps haunting you until you write about it. I was preparing for another topic and suddenly I read about olives. From that time onwards which ever side I turned the olives were there to haunt me. I was reading the bible story to my daughter and there it was in Noah’s ark- the dove brought a tender olive leaf. Here goes the post about olives.
These olive trees are native to Mediterranean basin. It is often used in Western literature and is a famous staple of biblical words. Olives has many health benefits it consists of a phytonutrient called Hydroxytyrosol which prevents cancer and bone loss. This reduces the risk of osteoporosis.
Olives contain high amounts of monounsaturated fats and a host of phytonutrients. If I write the entire nutrients you will be a bit bored. But WH Foods says it contains a whole lot of healthy nutrients which is very beneficial for your cardiovascular system, respiratory system, nervous system, musculoskeletal system, immune system, inflammatory system and digestive system. So many systems do get benefited by olives so whenever you go shopping never forget to buy olives and olive oil.
Talking about olives this is the perfect time for harvesting it. The phytonurients present in olives helps fight oxidative stress. Oleuropein which is exclusive to olive oil helps reduce oxidative stress and prevents oxygen related damage to cells.  Researchers have found olives are very effective against breast cancer and stomach cancer. The phytonutrients present interrupt the lifecycle of the breast cancer and stomach cancer cells.
The skin of the olive fights against colon cancer naturally. The olive oil protects liver from oxidative stress and bowl cancer. Virgin olive oil is found to have greater heart health benefits than other forms of olive oil. . The leaves of olives have anti aging, immune-stimulating and antibiotic properties.
