Fast Foods Can Make Your Kids Dumb

Table of Contents

Being a parent as well as a health writer is a tough task. Just days before my little daughter came up with a request that she wants nuggets for school. She asks in such a sweet, polite manner, that even if you want to say no you say yes. And so I gave her my promise. But yesterday I spotted this research study. I really do not know what to do? But a promise is always a promise.

Junk food

A recent study found that the amount of fast food children eat may be linked to their performance in school. Earlier studies have found that fast food lacks iron, which helps in cognitive development. Diets which are rich in sugar and fat may affect memory and learning processes.

Researchers found that the more the kids consumed fast foods in fifth grade, the lower their reading, maths and science test scores by the time they reached eighth grade. Their test scores were up to 20% lower when compared to the kids who did not eat any fast food
Foods such as wild salmon, mackerel, sardines, milk, cheese, sour cream, liver, chicken, whole grains, lean red meat, eggs, spinach, pulses, shellfish, red berries, bananas, nuts, seeds and avocado can increase your intelligence quotient. So why not give it a try?
