The Great Health Benefits of Being an Extrovert

Table of Contents

Are you an extrovert? Whichever personality type you are just get your eyes glued to the computer screen tofurther read this post. A recent research study says that your personality may be linked to your wellbeing. How on earth does it happen? Let us see.
Before we discuss further let me tell you all about neuroticism and extroversion. Neuroticism is a personality which manifests itself in anxiety, moodiness, worry, envy and jealousy so says Wikipedia. The neurotic people are always self conscious and shy. Sigmund Freud a famous Austrian neurologist says this personality trait could have been caused due to unpleasant past experiences. You should not get me wrong, after a thorough investigation I feel introversion is different from neuroticism.
Extroverts are people who are outgoing, talkative and is a bouncy ball of energy. They tend to enjoy human interaction and do not like to be alone. They like social gatherings like parties and community activities. Now there is good news for extroverts. A study conducted recently has found young adults who are more outgoing or emotionally stable are happier in later life than their less emotionally stable peers. Now these people scored high on wellbeing and satisfaction with life. The study authors found that being extroverts positively enhanced the well being of such people.
Neuroticism had a negative impact because it causes feelings of anxiety and depression. Now it is not rocket science to know that depression and anxiety cause physical health problems. Having a cheerful countenance increases your health quotient. But being sad, depressed and moody can have adverse effects on your health.
As a blogger I think I should give my opinion about this whether you ask for it or not. I read somewhere that bloggers are supposed to give their opinions. Whoever we are on this planet we can be happy by having a higher purpose in life and striving to achieve that superior goal. In this way we tend to forget about ourselves and work for the common good.
