I am not a great fan of the detox diet because I was unsure about its authenticity. But the husband started talking about detoxes, and so I was intrigued and was all glued up. Here is what I found.
Detox diet
Detoxification is cleaning the blood. It is all about resting, cleaning, and eliminating toxins from your body. The main focus is given to the liver, where toxins are processed for elimination. But the fact is the body also eliminates toxins through the intestines, lungs, and skin.
There are two types of detoxes short term and long-term detoxes. When I did a little research, I found that the diets prescribed were not healthy at all. Some websites advise about a fruit detox, where you consume only fruits for 2-3 days.
A liquid fast is also advised by some websites, where you drink only fruit and vegetable juices. But I wonder about your body’s metabolism if you practice such extreme diets. You will feel more tired and weak.
Long term detoxes
This practice sounds better and practical to follow, where you feast on organic produce, replenish your body with water, avoid alcohol, reduce sugar, and practice meditation.
Foods for detox
Asparagus, garlic, ginger, grapefruit, green tea, lemongrass, lemons, avocados, broccoli, water, olive oil, seaweed, kale, dandelions, banana, Greek yogurt, rolled oats, honey, olives, and oranges can be used as detox foods.
Including healthy foods daily can work wonders for your body. Research studies have shown that fasting and extremely low-calorie intake can cause a slowdown of metabolism. It can cause an increase in weight gain after the person follows regular eating habits.
Interesting forms of detox
Some unique forms of detox include the following: A particular type of adhesive pad is worn on the bottom of the feet during sleep. Similarly, another process is the immersion of feet for 30 minutes in an ionic foot bath. It is believed that all the toxins are removed in this manner.
Conclusion
So what do we infer from the above discussion? Healthy foods, proper sleep, exercise, drinking sufficient water, keeping stress at bay, and having a positive attitude can go a long way in keeping you prim and proper.
Take care
