Be Warned! Iron Deficiency Can Cause Stroke

Table of Contents

Scientists have found that iron deficiency can increase the danger of stroke. But how does this happen? Iron deficiency can make the blood stickier. It seems that 15 million people worldwide suffer from a stroke. It is not the end of this grim statistic, nearly 6 million die due to stroke and 5 million are left permanently disabled.

How does iron deficiency lead to stroke?
Stroke occurs because the blood supply to the brain is interrupted by small clots. When the blood is deficient in iron, the platelets stick together more, which initiates clotting.

The platelets can collect in the blood vessels and major arteries like a little dam. This blocks the flow of blood to the brain and heart and results in strokes. Oh my stars! That sounds somewhat scary!
How can you prevent a stroke?
It would be good to follow a healthy diet, get some good sleep and maintain an exercise schedule to avoid suffering from stroke.
Watch your dieting habits……..
Foods that are high in saturated fat are a big no-no. So just avoid or drastically reduce the intake of junk food. Instead, include fruits and veggies and foods that have more of omega 3 fatty acids. These foods make the blood less sticky.
You can as well increase the iron content of the blood by including foods such as red meat, egg yolks, dark leafy vegetables, dried fruits and iron enriched cereals. Shellfish such as oysters, clams, scallops and turkey can also be good. Beans, lentils, chick peas, soybeans, liver and artichokes are worthy additions to increase the iron content in the blood.

Some herbaceous plants that make the blood thinner…..
Cinnamon, peppermint, ginger, licorice, cayenne pepper, paprika and garlic can work wonders for your health.
It is never too late to begin forming healthy habit. And then let this be your day.
