This post is a wake-up call to all those nice people out there who are not worried about being overweight and that include me too. Overweight means having more body fat than what is normally considered healthy.
For the normal functioning of the hormonal, reproductive and immune system as well as thermal insulation and shock absorption for the sensitive body parts the body requires minimum amountof fat. Now health professionals use the term BMI to find out whether you are on the healthy side of weight range.
BMI is expanded as body mass index. It is a simple index of weight for height. It is defined as a person’s weight in kilograms divided by the square of his height in meters.
If your BMI is greater than or equal to 25 you are in the overweight category. If your BMI is greater or equal to 30 then you are in the obese category. Being overweight can pose a host of health risks take a deep breath, relax and then read on.
The health risks include pre-diabetes, type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, coronary heart disease, stroke, sleep apnea, fertility problems, complications in pregnancy, stress incontinence, gallstones, cancer of colon, breast and womb, gout and fatty liver. I bet the whole body is under threat when you are overweight.
To attain a healthy weight range limit fatty foods, include more of fruits, veggies, legumes, whole grains and nuts in your diet, limit sugar, sleep well and last but not the least have a daily exercise regimen.
